Free MMORPG's A Plague?

Hm.

You like me, have probably noticed a overwhelming number of Free MMO's over the past couple of years. some good, some utter shit.

The question at hand is, why are company's making MMO's that use the same Hotkey formula thats been used for over 3/4 a decade if not more. Why cant some of these companies get there creative juices flowing? are they scared of innovation? or do they think that if they split from what everyone is used to they will make alot of core gamers mad?

My point being that some of us is sick of the old hotkey method, and generic MMO feel, DC Universe was a breathe of fresh air! DC still used a little bit of hotkeys but it felts entirely new for MMOs. but DC wasnt free.

Im tired of the same old song and dance.....are you?

  1. Two reasons: 1.) Because it's something MMO gamers are comfortable with. They can jump right in. Hardly any learning curve.

2.) Having massive worlds and tons of players limits the things you can do with a game as far as mechanics goes. It has to be fairly simple.

Haven't played DC Universe Online yet. :/

  2. I agree with both of you. I'd love to see something new, but sometimes hotkeys are what MMOs are about!

Sidenote: CJ, how about you do a blog with several minireviews of the free MMOs you have played, so us readers know what to avoid and what to try? Would be a good read, as well as being informative.
