Screamworks: Love in Theory and Practice

(Music Review)

HIM, with frontman Ville Valo returns with a new album Screamworks. throughout the life of HIM they have reached achievements most Finnish metal bands wish to have. A very successful band they have become, but is it enough to impress this Heartagrammy? We shall see
Lyrics for this album was basically classic HIM, and that would be the subject of Love. the lyrics impressed mt in the songs Heartkiller, Like St. Valentine, Ode to Solitude, In The Arms of Rain, and a Classic Love/Evil song, Disarm Me. so all in all, nothing new for HIM, perhaps the way Ville yells in some songs would express some emotion of Anger or Joy, but the yelling is a bit......annoying.....
Score:
Lyrics: 8.6/10
Musically the band is almost the same, except i hear more Keys now. its almost Symphonic, but then again its not. In my honest opinion its not metal anymore....its alot more softer than there previous album Venus Doom. Hell, they consider themselves Alternative now. what happened to Love Metal? =/ i am very disappointed in some instances but then again i like the beat and rhythm of alot of the songs, but i miss the old school HIM, the Heavier HIM. I would like to take you back in time, and compare these two songs, i want you to play the first song first and listen to the music, then listen to the second.
See the difference? but hey, change can be a good thing, i dont mind the change in there music, but it IS noticeable.
Score:
Music: 7.2/10
HIM has become, Pop in some ways, they are even having radio time on my local stations, but thats not a bad thing, but it will be a bad thing when they play Heartkiller 14 times a day.
Its not there best work but hey its something new.
